Welcome Spring with an At Home Golf Tournament Party

The famous golf tournament in Augusta, Ga is the first of the four major golf tournaments played in the United States. This prestigious event takes place April 5-11 in Augusta, Georgia. Tickets are always limited, but in 2021 only select patrons are allowed. Since you can’t go in person, here are five suggestions to help create a celebration worthy golf watch party – complete with your favorite snacks, including delicious peanuts.
Set the Scene.
The site of Augusta National golf course where the tournament is played was once a nursery. As a nod to its beginnings, each hole is named after a flowering shrub or tree. Conjure the smell of Georgia in springtime with aromatic magnolia; flowering dogwood; yellow jasmine; and tea olive. Add the star of the perfectly coiffed greens – flowering azaleas. After the party, clear a spot in your yard or on your deck to plant your garden.
Take a Digital Break.
With the exception of practice rounds, The tournament does not allow guests to bring phones or cameras on the course during the tournament. Put those digital devices away and enjoy the experience in real life, or in 2020 style on Zoom.
Play Golfy Games.
During the practice rounds, it is customary for golfers to participate in a par-3 contest and skip shots across the pond on the 16th hole. You probably don’t have a par three course, or a pond in your house, but you can set up a mini-golf hole with a set of toy clubs, or bounce ping pong balls into cups marked for the hole par.
Savor the Tastes.
The tournament concession menu is one of the endearing event traditions, and what you might expect from a simple southern picnic. Egg salad and pimento cheese on white bread. Peach ice cream, and easy healthy snacks like peanuts. Jazz up the menu while keeping the southern flair with recipes like Peanut Crusted Chicken and Vegetable Skewers, Grilled Pork Belly with Pickled Apples and Smoked Peanut Butter, Seedy FlatbreadDijon Peanut Salad,  and Ultimate Peanut Butter Cookies.
Cocktail Time.
The most loved souvenir from the tournament is the branded plastic cups that hold concession beverages. They are so coveted; guests pick through trash cans to salvage the treasures. Create your own special cups to serve the signature Azalea cocktail of blue Gatorade, pink lemonade and sprite. Or create your own signature cocktail like this Kings Old Fashion.
No matter how you celebrate this rite of spring, Enjoy. And don’t forget to wear your green jacket!
