Texas Peanut Producers Board Seeks Nominees for National Peanut Board Alternate

Feb. 1, 2017 – ATLANTA The Texas Peanut Producers Board is seeking eligible peanut producers who are interested in serving on the National Peanut Board. Texas Peanut Producers Board will hold a nominations election meeting to select two nominees for the position of alternate to the National Peanut Board at 9:00 a.m. (CST) on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Barons Creekside Resort, 316 Goehmann Lane, Fredericksburg, Texas, 78624 (first floor of the “Big Lodge”).

Nominations will begin at 9:30 a.m. All eligible producers are encouraged to participate.
 
Currently, the Texas National Peanut Board alternate seat is vacant. The term for the newly-appointed Texas alternate expires Dec. 31, 2018. Peter Froese Jr. of Seminole is the current Texas National Peanut Board member.

USDA requires two nominees from Texas for the position of alternate. The National Peanut Board will submit Texas’ slate of nominees to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, who makes the appointment.

The National Peanut Board encourages inclusion of persons of any race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation and marital or family status. NPB encourages all persons who qualify as peanut producers to attend the meeting and run for nomination. 

It is USDA’s policy that membership on industry-government boards and committees accurately reflect the diversity of individuals served by the programs. All board members and alternates serve as volunteers.

The National Peanut Board represents all USA peanut farmers and their families. The mission of the Board is to provide USA peanut growers with a receptive and growing market for their peanuts and the information and tools for improved efficiencies. Through research and marketing initiatives the Board is finding new ways to enhance production and increase consumer demand by promoting the great taste, nutrition and culinary versatility of USA grown peanuts.
