Export Promotion

The U.S.—one of the world’s leading peanut exporters

The United States is the fourth largest peanut exporter globally behind Argentina, China and India. In 2019, the United States exports 512,188 Metric Tons (MT) of peanuts, more than double the metric tons exported in 2011 (233,198 MT).

The main markets for U.S. peanuts are Canada (25 percent), the EU- (24 percent), Mexico (23 percent), China/Vietnam (18 percent) and Japan (four percent). Exports continue to be important to the economic health of the U.S. peanut industry in helping to provide a more stable and competitive supply and demand situation.

United Export Strategy

Each year, National Peanut Board works collaboratively with the industry export cooperator, the American Peanut Council, to help create strategic goals and implement export initiatives and programs through the United Export Strategy. Our Board members regularly go on trade missions and reverse trade missions with Japan, China, Canada and Mexico. These missions are designed to maintain existing relationships and collaborate with industry officials worldwide.
