About a year ago, we sat down with the individual who runs @PeanutsHere on Twitter and Instagram, the anonymous Peanut Vendor. At the time, he was just getting his feet wet on social media, so we thought we’d catch up with him and see how it’s been going.
Q. First off, Happy New Year, Mr. Vendor. Or is it Peanut Vendor?
A. My mom calls me ‘sweetie’, my dog calls me ‘woof’, and the fans in the stands call me ‘peanuts here!’, but you can just call me the Peanut Vendor, or PV for short.
Q. It’s been a while since the last time we chatted. How was your year?
A. In a word? It was the best year of my life! I got my toss to over 60 MPH, received a promotion to be head vendor at the ballpark, and started my own Twitter and Instagram pages, where I’ve been chatting with some awesome lovers of the perfectly powerful peanut!
Q. Speaking of Twitter, what are your thoughts on the recently released peanut emoji?
A. I’ve been using the peanut emoji non-stop! And personally, I think it’s the greatest invention since the sliced bread that I put peanut butter on.
Q. Plus, it saves on character count, too.
A. Not only that, the peanut emoji has really become my official symbol of love. For example, if someone posts a picture of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich— "that PBJ!”. Or maybe they post a picture from the top of the Empire State Building—“INY”. It’s basically a character saver and a lifesaver!
Q. So, 2016 was a great year for you. Any big plans or resolutions for 2017?
A. Stay humble, continue to strive to throw 9+ innings every night, and keep making new friends with people that love peanuts as much as I do.
