As of the end of the December 2015, all peanut plots have been harvested, weighed and moisture recorded. After being recorded, the raw data was sorted by variety and sent to the MAFES statistician to be analyzed and then convert the plot weights to pounds per acre. A sample from each variety, at each location, was collected to be graded. The results from this grading process were used to report the % TSMK. This data has been included along with the yield data that corresponds with each individual plot from each of the four locations. One of the four locations (Raymond), experienced significant rainfall following the initial planting, which resulted in reduced plant populations within some plots. After consulting with the Extension Peanut Specialist, the decision to replant was made. The Raymond location experienced very dry conditions at crucial points during the season, due to this setback. However, all plots experienced the high summer temperatures and below average rainfall, after planting which resulted in yields that were below average. The methods and results of the tests were peer reviewed prior to submitting for publication. Following this review process and proper approval, a MAFES publication will be printed and all this information will then be made available for producers in order to make future planting decisions. The results from these yield trials was also made available on the MAFES Variety Trials website.
Plans are already being made for the upcoming growing season to ensure that adequate land is requested and the soil is tested prior to planting to ensure that proper fertility is applied, if necessary, to maximize the crops yield potential.
