HEALTHY PLANNING

It can be tough to maintain healthy eating habits and a hectic schedule.  Whether you are always on the go or have time to create gourmet sensations at home, USA peanuts and peanut butter are your answer.
Here are some easy ways to add a serving of peanuts into your daily diet:

When you’re at home …

  • Keep a can of peanuts handy so you can munch on a healthful treat while working around the house, reading with your children or watching television.
  • Involve your children in meal planning and preparation so they can learn about healthy eating habits and good nutrition.  Experiment with kid-friendly recipes, such as Flag-Waving Peanut Butter Cookies and PB&J French “Toastwich.”

When you’re eating out …

  • Be on the lookout for the many delicious peanut/peanut butter menu items now available at some of your favorite restaurants in appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts.
  • More than 1000 new products with peanuts or peanut butter have been created during the past five years.  Have you found a favorite yet?

When you’re on the road …

  • Store a pack of peanuts and a jar of peanut butter in the glove box for a crunchy and satisfying treat.
  • Stop by a roadside stand or product market and buy some homemade boiled or roasted peanuts.

When you’re at work …

  • Ask your place of employment to provide peanuts as a healthful snack option – they’ll keep your energy up to get more accomplished.
  • Keep some peanuts or a jar of peanut butter and a spoon in your desk drawer for midday cravings.

Not only are peanuts and peanut products convenient snacks that deliver good nutrition, they are all-stars in the kitchen.  Cooks in restaurants and in homes across the world are recognizing the potential of these once humble staples.  They’re turning them into signature dishes that aren’t just packed with great taste, they’re also packed with good nutrition.

Increasingly, peanuts are finding their way to the center of the plate, encrusting your favorite fish dish or as a crunchy and flavorful topping in a range of cuisines, from Asian to New American to Latin.  Incorporating peanuts is a sensational way to add extra protein, nutrients and flavor to any dish.  Peanut butter is also a strong player in the kitchen.  Add it to a sauce or salad dressing for an extra zip of flavor and protein.  Other peanut products, such as peanut flour and aromatic peanut oil, also allow chefs to provide good nutrition for their friends, family and guests.
